The Edmonton Grads women's basketball team was formed in 1915 and reteried in 1940. During that time the Edmonton Grads were Canadian champions from (1922) North American Champions in (1923) and World Champions in (1924). What makes the Edmonton Grads one of a kind women's basketball team is during that time they had a phenomenal record of 502 wins and 20 losses they remain unrivaled by any team in any sport. The Edmonton grads continues to hold the North American record for the women's sports team with the best winning percentage. Duke Ellington is arguably the greatest jazz artist to ever live playing a major with a career spanning over half a century. He was born april 29, 1899 in the suburbs of washington. There he learned how to play piano from his parents who played music in their spare time. He earned the nickname “Duke” by his demeanor and manors which he actually liked. By fifteen he was making ragtime music and by 17 he was playing professionally. By the 1920s he had assembled a ten person group and started to play in new york jazz clubs. By the mid 20s he was a household name and went on to make songs like I don’t mean a thing if you ain’t got that swing, sophisticated lady and Solitude. Duke Ellington stayed at the top of the charts for almost 25 years where he would retire a league from jazz. He died at the age of 75 from lung cancer, at his funeral in new York over 12 000 people came to pay their respects.

The Dionne Quintuplets (Yvonne, Cecile, Annette, Emilie, Marie) were born on May 28, 1934. These poor children were raised by their two parents to be "[We were] servants, slaves. It was not human." said by Annette and Cecile to the New York Times. The parents already had 5 children prior to the quintuplets (making it 10 when they were born). The girls became very popular and known to be the first ever recorded quintuplets to ever all survive infancy and the first quintuplets ever to be identical. They appeared in several Hollywood films and lots of commercials. All babies were two months premature and on average each baby came out two pounds. The parents decided they were in desperate need for cash so they signed a statement with the government which their father says he immediately regretted. The girls were put in a sanctuary, tourists called "Quintland" (this is where they lived until 1943) tourists from all over came to Ontario to see these "miracle babies." They were under the care of Dr. Dafoe (who actually helped birth them), three nurses, two maids and a housekeeper. They said at the place they lived in "Quint land" they were treated like princesses and cared for very well. Eventually the girls parents got custody back in 1943 and had to live with their biological parents and said they were sexually assaulted by their father, hit and beaten, put to work and almost like slaves to their parents. They all left at the age of 18 to go to school in Quebec. They soon after sued the government for taking custody of them and received 4 million dollars spread among them. They all gradually died from their own causes as the years went by.

Louis Armstrong was one of the greatest musicians and influences in the Jazz industry. Born on August 4th, 1901 in New Orleans Louisiana, Armstrong was sent to an all boys home where he would then learn to play the cornet and begin his dream as a musician. He started off by playing in bands on riverboats before moving to Chicago and joining the Cerol Jazz band, which would then bring him to produce one of his greatest hits the "heebie jeebies", leading Armstrong to become one of the greatest Musicians in America. Moreover, throughout his journey, Armstrong broke down numerous barrels as an African American; examples would be how he was one of the first African Americans to host a national radio podcast and also being given a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In result, Louis Armstrong produced thousands of records and helped bring in a sense of blue and aesthetic to music. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1971 due to a heart attack, though will always be remembered as a legend for the jazz industry.
